Mary Pearlie McKenzie

Mary Pearlie Wood McKenzie, 91 of Rossville, passed away Monday, October 11, 2021 in her home.

Mary was born in Tuscaloosa, AL on June 14, 1930 to the late Rev. George Wood Sr. and Pearlie Snipes Wood. She was a member of Chattanooga First Church of the Nazarene since 1974. Mary retired after 23 years of service with Olan Mills. She enjoyed music and flowers, and especially loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, James A. McKenzie; infant son; two brothers; one sister; and son-in-law, Larry Massey.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet Massey; two granddaughters, Kim (James) Smith and Christy (Andy) Duke; three great grandchildren, Jonathan McKenzie, Jeremy McKenzie, and Emerson Phillips; great great grandson, Zayden Burton; sister, Doris J. Crane; brother, Jerry (Faye) Wood; four sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 12pm in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Eric Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
