Mary Evelyn Wright, 85, of Rossville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 19, 2018 in a local healthcare facility.

Mrs. Wright was born in Scottsboro, Alabama on May 20, 1932 to the late Robert and Maggie Lou Beard and later moved to the Chattanooga/North Georgia area in 1950. She retired from Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga with over 20 years of service as a switchboard operator. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Parkway Baptist in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Mrs. Wright will be remembered for her love of going to church and spending time with her family, friends and church family. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold “Archie” Wright and her brother, R.L. “Bob” Beard.

Survivors include her son, Clifford “Butch” Wright, grandchildren, Daniel and Cody, great-grandchildren, Clayton and Katie, brother, Jerry (Faye) Beard.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor David Sampson officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
