Michael Dennis Mitchell

Michael Dennis Mitchell, age 65, of O'Fallon, Missouri entered the arms of his heavenly Father on Sunday, September 20, 2020 in O'Fallon, Missouri after a long battle with lymphoma. He was born in LaFayette, Georgia on March 9, 1955 to Ray and Carmie Mitchell (nee Gilreath).

Mike was a true family man and loved to have a good time. He had a great sense of humor. He married his high school sweetheart in 1974, and he loved spending time with his family. Mike also loved history, especially family history. He spent a lot of time outdoors and enjoyed hiking. He has biked the Katy trail across the state of Missouri. Mike had a list of never ending projects at home, but would drop everything to help others. He never met a stranger and cared deeply for his friends and family.

Mike is survived by his wife, Darlene Mitchell; his daughters, Tiffany (Joe) Dolson, and Lacey (Michael) Hiatte; his grandchildren, Abigail Dolson, Caleb Dolson, Marianne Dolson, Aaron Dolson, Isaac Dolson, Melissa Hiatte, Landon Hiatte, and Addie Hauk; and his sister, Donna Cordell. He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Mitchell; his mother, Carmie Gilreath; his step-father, Coy Lacey; and his brother, Kenny Mitchell.

A celebration of life will take place at 2:00 pm  Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Denny Patrick officiating.

In accordance with CDC guidelines, face coverings and social distancing will be required.
