Mildred D. Varnell, 94 of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 15, 2020 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mildred was born and raised in the Rossville area and graduated from Central High school. She was of the Baptist faith and was a tireless and dedicated Navy Chaplains wife for many years. Mildred was the mother of five children and taught them of Christ’s love and showed them His kindness. She was known to sing hymns and was a loving and caring woman with a wonderful sense of humor. To Mildred, family was everything, she always made the holidays special and was indeed a virtuous woman (Proverbs 31).
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jack Varnell; infant daughter, Deborah Lynn Varnell; son, David Varnell; parents, Vance and Clara Stafford; siblings: Leland Stafford, Evelyn Thacker, and Ray Stafford.
Survivors include her children: Judy Varnell, Daniel Varnell, John (Joy) Varnell; brother, Jack (Jane) Stafford; grandsons: Scott (Becky Ginsburg) Pepin and Derek Pepin; great grandson, Jacob Pepin; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 at 2:30pm with Pastor Jim Bennett officiating in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
