Tribute

Mona Guest McBride, 90 of Rock Spring, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 in a local healthcare facility.

 

Mona was born in Alabama and graduated from Sylvania High School. She lived for many years in Rossville, GA before settling in Rock Spring and was a member of Rock Spring United Methodist Church. Mona was a diligent and practical homemaker for many years. She was a talented cook and collected many recipes over the years. Mona enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and in later years attended Mid-South Beauty School where she earned a certificate in cosmetology. She operated her own beauty salon out of her home and enjoyed her work. 

 

Mona was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Doyle McBride; parents, Benjamin and Pairlee Guest; and seven siblings.

 

Survivors include her children, LeBron (Debbie) McBride and Kay (Jimmy) Jones; grandchildren, Ashleigh (Phillip) Triplett, Matt (Lindsey) Jones, Anna (Dan Oprisch) McBride, and Ben McBride; one great grandson, Lucian Triplett; two brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Due to the current health restrictions, a private family graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Minister Eric Johnson officiating.  A public memorial service will be held at a later date.

 

Memorial contributions in Mona’s honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.

 

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Rosewood Assisted Living and Tapestry Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
