Murrel Leonard

September 14, 1930 ~ April 11, 2022 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Tribute

On Monday, April 11, 2022, Murrel Leonard, one of God’s earthly angels earned her wings and soared to her new home in heaven.  She was born on a beautiful day September 14, 1930, in Denver, Tennessee.  The day was filled with hope, promise, and great expectations.  Residing the majority of her childhood in Harlem, Georgia, she grew up monetarily poor but rich in God’s love.  With a respect for her fellow man, and a real sense of the purpose of life, those who knew her were truly blessed.  She would fill your stomach with the best food you have ever eaten and your heart with love like you have never experienced.  She mostly worked in the medical profession.  Her passions were the Lord Jesus Christ, the Chickamauga Presbyterian Church, her friends Diane, Marian, Betty, Dixie, Julia Edwards and Gertie, to name just a few, and of course, her family.

Murrel dealt in antiques throughout her life.  Her house was filled almost entirely of antiques except for a few necessary modern inventions.  She was 91 years old and almost everything in her house was older than her.

She married the love of her life, Great Gordon Leonard.  They lived a life most of us would only dream about.  They built their dream home together in Chickamauga, Georgia, and made it something everyone would come to envy and love.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Allison and Lillian Melton, her spouse Gordon, her siblings Marvene, Lonnie and Diane, and two of her children, Greg and Alva.

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Cindy) Kinard, Jerry (Tracy) Kinard, Joan Kinard, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers or donations, she would wish you all to find the Lord, live your life to the fullest, shed not a tear, but rejoice in her death.  For now her life is just beginning.  She loves you all and will see you again in heaven.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, GA.
