Nellie Hindmon

Nellie Hindmon, 86, Rossville, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020.

Nellie was born in Chattanooga and spent her whole life in the North Georgia and Chattanooga areas.  She worked for Peerless Woolen Mills, Rossville Yarns, and Buccaneer Yarns before retiring from Kmart after 20 years of service. For over 30 years on the weekends Nellie could be heard as the DJ for WJOC. She was a member of the New Covenant Holiness Church. In her free time, Nellie loved Gospel singing, as a musician and singer, and even wrote poems and songs.

Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Burkhart; son, Earl M. Brickley; parents, Henry and Clara Russell; and several siblings.

Survivors include her sons, Douglas Burkhart and Kenneth (Nicolette) Burkhart; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.
