Rev. Stephen A Jones

December 22, 1950 ~ May 9, 2022 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Tribute

Reverend Stephen A. Jones, 71, of Chickamauga exchanged his faith for sight on May 9, 2022 with his family all gathered ‘round.  He lived most of his life in the Northwest Georgia area.  Following high school, Reverend Jones graduated from UT at Knoxville and later from Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta with a Master of Divinity. Reverend Jones served as Pastor at Signal Mountain Bible Church, Assistant Pastor at Brainerd Presbyterian Church, and Associate Pastor at Trion Presbyterian Church EPC. His other occupations included Volkswagen Mechanicing and providing Jack-of-all-Trades Maintenance anywhere his services were needed. Mr. Steve was a Cub Master for many years with Pack 38 in Trion, GA, standing in as Father for many boys and teaching the fine art of camping in the rain.   He spent his retirement caring for his parents, operating his family’s legacy, Back Achers Farm, and being available for every request for assistance. He was the first one to answer the call to lend a hand and teach a lesson, to fix a leaky sink, provide transport for a toddler or a traveler, repair drywall, change a tire in the middle of the night, or even mend a broken heart with bad puns and good chocolate.   He loved the Lord and his family dearly.  Steve and his favorite, first, and only, wife Sarah began their relationship with the idea of creating a family of inclusion. During their life together they welcomed many people into their lives and their homes, and no one left feeling like a stranger. He regularly hosted gatherings that seemed to burst the seams of their homes, and welcomed everyone to join him on farm tours and bonfires.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Isabelle Jones; daughter, Belle Marie; two Sonshine babies; granddaughter, Shirayuki Grace Agostino; and uncle, Sam Jones.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sarah Decosimo Jones; he was Daddy to, Faith (David) Pressley; Andrew Jones; Elisabeth Plittman (Brian Braun) and Abigail (David) Agostino; brother, Andrew Parker (Jordan) Jones; aunt, Geraldine Bryan; nine grandchildren; Ann (Gage) Bauer, Jack Pressley, Lena Pressley, Richard Plittman, Avery Plittman, Christian Agostino, Harde Agostino, Olive Agostino, and Bonnie Agostino; great grandson, Will Bauer; many who called him “Dad”; and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
