Robert Gene Sweeton, 83, of Ringgold, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2018, three days prior to his 84th birthday, at his residence surrounded by his wife and son.

Mr. Sweeton was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Mason-Dixon Truck Lines as terminal manager following thirty years of service.  He held memberships at Ft. Oglethorpe Church of Christ and East Ridge Church of Christ, loved to travel with his family, enjoyed listening to music, and particularly, visiting Daniel O’Donnell in Branson, Missouri.  He had a strong work ethic and truly loved his God, family and work.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillard & Gladys Sweeton, brothers, Vernon & Frank Sweeton, and sister, Loretta Sweeton.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Jimmie May Brown Sweeton; son, Darryl Sweeton of Ringgold; brother, Carl Ray (Imogene) Sweeton; sister, Hazel Johnson; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Monday, January 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens South with Minister Charles Cochran officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
