Ronald "Ron" Childress

Ronald “Ron” Childress, 71 of Hixson, passed away Saturday, March 9th, 2019 at a local hospital.

Ron was born in Chattanooga, TN where he lived most of his life. He was a US Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War on the USS Independence. Ron was a TN Vols fan and loved Corvettes, especially his ’64 Stingray.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Mildred Childress and brother, Hugh D. Childress, Jr.         

Survivors include his sons, Mark (Mary) Childress and Eric Childress; sister, Yvonne (Billy) Hawkins; two grandchildren, and a host of friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Ron’s many friends who loved and supported him; especially his best friends, Hal Wagenblast, Bill Abney, and lifelong friend, Joe Stansifer.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11am at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
