Ruby Lee Akins, 95 of Chickamauga, GA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 30, 2022.
Ruby was born and raised in the North Georgia area and was a member of Old Grand Center Baptist Church. She worked for several years with Redford’s Five and Dime Store and greatly enjoyed her time there. Ruby also took great pride in raising her children and taking care of her household. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and adored spending time with them. Ruby loved to cook and was known for her southern comfort food especially her chicken n’ dumplings and dressing. She never met a stranger, was very kind, loving, gentle, and giving. You could not help but love Ruby; she is deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron J. Akins; infant son, Terry Akins; son, James “Jimmy” Akins; parents, Robert and Addie Morris; and siblings: Robert, Archie, and Paul Morris and Louise Turner.
Survivors include her children: Donna Sitton (James), Dan J. Akins (Martha), Peggy Eades (Chip), and Tony Akins (Renee); grandchildren: Kelly Akins (Vanessa), Tina Henslee, Jay Akins (Abby), Danette Coski (Brian), Sam McAllister (Amber), and Matthew McAllister (Heather); sister, Mary Ruth Townsend; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 4th, 2022 at 11:30am in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Akins officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
