Ruby Jane Alder Burchard, 85, of Lookout Mountain, GA, went quietly to sleep in the Lord on Thursday, August 8, 2019, at her home. She was born near Barnesville, MN and was the seventh of nine children, with three sisters and five brothers. Ruby was a long-time member of the Lookout Mountain Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Henry Burchard, her parents, Alton Willis and Mabel Alvida Peterson Alder, her brothers Willis, Ron, Eugene and Clarence, Sister-in-law’s Donna Alder, and Tommie Sue Burchard, Brother-in-law’s Kurt Ueeck and Bob Burchard.
Ruby Graduated from Hylandale Academy near Rockland, Wisconsin in 1952, and received her BS degree in nursing from Madison College in Madison, TN in 1956. She retired from nursing in 1996 and provided loving care for different family members in her home over the next 20 years. She was an avid gardener with the ability to plant anything and make it grow! She loved her family and friends, and some of her greatest joys were attending family and church reunions and gospel musical programs. After the death of her husband, her sister Lorraine took her to Africa on a mission trip, which she enjoyed immensely, and she was able to walk beside lions, a lifelong dream of hers.
She is survived by sons William Burchard (married to Sharon) of Louisville, KY, Wayne Burchard (married to Lynne) and Glenn Burchard (married to Isabel), both of Lookout Mountain, GA; her six grandchildren: Candice, Bridget, Aimee (married to Bruce), Aaron, Trevin (married to Dany), and Allison; and her three great-grandchildren: Kenneth, Kaitlyn, and Kassadee.
