Thomas M. “Tom” Hall, 90 of Ft. Oglethorpe, met his Heavenly Father on Friday, February 26th, 2021.
Tom was born in rural Alabama near Valley Head on December 10th, 1930 to Sim and Addie Planzer Hall. He graduated in the 1949 class of Valley Head High School and was a diehard Alabama football fan. Tom proudly served his country in Germany in the US Army from 1952-1954. He was a dedicated member of Westside Baptist church, considered himself blessed to be a volunteer with the Golden Harvest Ministry, and the Christian Brotherhood Ministry. Tom was tireless in his volunteer work in local nursing homes and hospitals. His servant’s heart was unparalleled and he was a wonderful example of a Christian man. Tom was affectionately known as “Opa” to many and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Roll Tide!
Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jimmie Lee Smith Hall; parents, Sim and Addie Hall; siblings, Mary E. Porter and Robert “Bob” Hall.
Survivors include his two wonderful children: Elizabeth “Beth” (Brian) Mares and Thomas M. “Marty” (Kellie) Hall; four granddaughters; one great grandson; one great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 5th, 2021 at 11am in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
