Tom Williams

Thomas R. “Tom” Williams, 83, of Rossville, went home to be with his Heavenly Father after an extended battle with many illnesses at his home.  He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of eight.  Tom attended Simpson Memorial United Methodist Church for several years and later became a member of the Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church. He worked at American Lava for 28 years until making a career change.  Tom went to work for Standard Coosa Thatcher Yarns where he was president of the union.     He retired from the City of Rossville Police Department in 2000 as a patrolman with 28 years of service.  After his retirement from the police department, he worked for the Walker County Sheriff’s Department for a short time, he worked as a security officer for Red Food (Bi-Lo), and full time at the Flintstone Branch of Rossville Bank (Community National Bank) for seven and a half years.   Tom drove a school bus for Walker County in the late 1960’s, he loved all sports, he was an avid UT Vols fan, and he never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Mayme Williams; sons, Jeffrey Earl Williams (infant), Randall Lynn Williams; brother, Cecil Williams; sisters, Velma Lea Holland and Marie Bickford.

He will be missed by his wife of 24 years, Priscilla; step-children, Dawn (Jeff) Sizemore and Jeremy (Nikki) Geyer; daughter-in-law, Marla Barnes Williams;  six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Grady (Phyllis) Williams and Franklin (Henrietta) Williams; several nieces and nephews.
