Waldo “Jim” Carl Lockhart, Jr., 74 of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, May 5th, 2019 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was raised and worked his entire life in Chattanooga. He graduated from Red Bank High School and was an Elder and Deacon at Red Bank Presbyterian Church. Jim was also a member of the Red Bank Lions Club. He was a self-employed auto mechanic having owned “Lockhart’s VW Garage” on Rossville Ave. for over 30 years. Jim was passionate about his God, his family, and his job. He was an amazing man who, even after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, could rebuild an engine.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo and Nellie Lockhart; mother-in-law, Thelma Crabtree; and son-in-law, David Pearce.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 38 years, Diane Crabtree Lockhart; daughters, Rhonda Lockhart Harding (Jayson McKee) of Manchester, TN, Lisa Pearce of Helena, AL, April (Nathan) Grubbs of Chatt., TN, Rachel Lockhart (Justin) of Chatt., TN; step-daughter, Lisa Berry of Chatt., TN; eleven precious grandchildren: Seth, Elijah, James, Alexandria, Samantha, Cole, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Ellie, Caleb, and AnnaKate; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Lilly; and his sweet “grand-dog,” Willow.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 11th at 1pm in the South Crest Chapel with Chaplain Greg Collins and Reverend Olen Grubbs officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11am until the funeral hour in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
