William Lawrence Vines Jr.

Mr. William L. Vines, Jr. passed away on January 21, 2022.  William was born in Chattanooga, TN to the late Mr. William L. Vines, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Mathis Vines on August 3, 1926.

William was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Philippines.  William was definitely a man of his word and could be depended on without fail.  He worked for more than 40 years as a mechanic for Power Brake and Supply.  William also coached and umpired little league baseball.  He loved to play the guitar and sing but most of all, he loved his family.  His love will surely be missed by all those who knew him.

William is preceded in death by his parents, son, Eddie Vines, brother, Jack Vines, and sisters; Gertrude Wingate and Helen Knox.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Vines, daughters; Yvonne Ingle, Connie (Ed) Carr, and Judy Head.  William leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 19 Great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

A funeral service for Mr. Vines will be conducted in the chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday, January 27, at 10am with the Rev. Tommy Wright Officiating.  Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family will not be receiving friends before the funeral due to the current Covid situation.
