William “Bill” Theodore Gammon, Jr. 76 of Chickamauga, GA passed away Thursday, July 14th, 2022 in a local hospital.
Bill was born in Mountain Home, Idaho and attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he studied Mathematics and Theology. He served his country honorably in the US Army in Vietnam earning a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Honorable Service Medal, and an Army Commendation. Bill retired from TVA after 16 years of service as a Networking Engineer. In his free time, Bill enjoyed kayaking, hiking, riding horses, and most recently, training his dog with the Obedience Club of Chattanooga. He was outgoing, loved to teach, caring, and a loving father, husband, and grandfather. Bill loved his family dearly and will be deeply missed.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, William T. Gammon, Sr.; mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Billy Paul Gaddy.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Gammon; sons, Justin (Shannon) Gammon and Kevin Gammon; grandchildren: Chase, Reagan, and Hailey Drafahl, and Emma Grace Gammon; great granddaughter, Lyla Drafahl; brother, Richard (Carolyn) Gammon; nephew, Craig Gammon; and beloved dog, Mia Vom Thorne Haus.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 20th, 2022 at 12:30pm in the South Crest Chapel with Chaplain Bobby Fleck officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
