Ronald A. Westbrook, Lt. Col. USAF, (Ret.), 72, of the High Point Community of Chickamauga, GA, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013.  Mr. Westbrook was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area where he was a 1959 graduate of Rossville High School, 1970 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, a member of the Oakwood Baptist Church, and a member of the Chattanooga Valley Lions Club having served as Past President.  He retired from the United States Air Force with 33 years of service having served during the Vietnam Era receiving numerous accommodations and medals.  He also retired from TVA in the early 1990’s as an Engineer with over 20 years of service.  He was Past Commander of the 241st EIS Squadron at Lovell Field and had managed the Barwick Airport in Lafayette where he was a Certified Pilot and Flight Instructor.  Mr. Westbrook loved music and he enjoyed playing his trumpet.  He played the Trumpet in the Rossville High School Band, the Church Orchestra at Oakwood Baptist Church, the Mid South Orchestra, and the Scenic City Orchestra.  His passions in life were his family, flying, and music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Rolla Westbrook.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Deanne Westbrook; three children, Allen Westbrook of Urbana, IL, Michael Westbrook of Rossville, GA, and Jason (Aundrea) Westbrook of Henagar, AL; brother, James B. (Noetta) Westbrook of Ringgold, GA, grandchildren, Kimberly, Jasper, James, and Jacob Westbrook; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Steve (Darlene) Oswalt of Trion, GA and William (Regina) Oswalt of Rock Spring, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions may be made in Mr. Westbrook’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.  

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2p.m. in the South Crest Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with Full Military Honors.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4-8p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
