Welcome to the memorial page for

E. S. Buchanan, Jr.

May 11, 1939 ~ January 4, 2018 (age 78) 78 Years Old

E.S. Buchanan, 78, died on January 4, 2018. He was born May 11, 1939 to Ephraim S. and Ida (Carol) Buchanan of Trenton, Ga. He married Evelyn (Garner) on March 27, 1959 and she survives and mourns the loss of her best friend and lifelong partner.

E. S. and Evelyn were the longtime owners of Brett’s Shoes in Rossville Georgia where they enjoyed their customers and loved on their employees, like family. During early retirement years he loved to travel with his wife Evelyn. In later years, gardening brought him great joy. He loved a bargain better than anyone you’ve ever met and he never ever met a stranger. He was a bull jiver, truth teller, loud laugher, fierce protector and his heart was as big as the ocean. The hole he leaves in our lives, with his departure, is gaping.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Lester, Chester and Ruthie. In his last days he spoke of visiting with loved ones already Home. We are confident that these and many others are rejoicing in Heaven together with him now.

He will be deeply missed by his children who adored him: Tony Buchanan and his wife, Donna (Stotts) Buchanan, Tonya (Buchanan) Lovett and her husband, Mark Lovett, Teresa Buchanan and her husband Andre Dempsey. He found such joy and brought lots of laughter to the lives of his grandchildren: Jessica (Lovett) Raue and husband Chris Raue, Tabitha (Lovett) Pitts and husband Brian Pitts, Brandon Buchanan, Andre Buchanan-Dempsey, Jacob Buchanan, Ian Buchanan-Dempsey and Shannon Buchanan. He will also be missed by his three great grandchildren Shane Raue, Colette Raue and Annabelle Pitts. He was the apple of his surviving sister Ida Cooper’s eye. He will also be mourned by his sisters Deloris, Jewel, Wanda and Virginia. His sister-in-law, Wilma and brother-in-law, Tim mourn him as well. He’ll be deeply missed by many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
