George W. Merciers, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in a local hospital.
He was born on January 1, 1940 in Chattanooga to the late Harold and Mamie Merciers and was a graduate of Rossville High School. Mr. Merciers served his country having served in the U.S. Air Force for three years and retiring from the U.S. Navy following twenty years of service. He pursued a career as a multi-craft industrial maintenance technician and retired from the Mueller Corporation after twenty years of employment. Mr. Merciers was a member and Past-Master of the Lookout Valley Masonic Lodge #673 F&AM, attended the New Haven Church of God in Chickamauga, enjoyed bowling, golfing, and talking to everyone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of thirty years, Melva Jane Merciers, and four brothers.
Survivors include his sons, Eric (Lynn) Merciers of Elizabethtown, KY, Andy (Pam) Merciers of Chattanooga, and Sam (Meghan) Merciers of Florence, AL; step-sons, Mark (Missi)Mc Clung and David (Vanessa) McClung; sister, Vannie Sue Johnson; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 21st at 1:00 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with full military honors.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
