Richard Harris Merciers, 64, of Chickamauga, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Merciers attended New Haven Fellowship and enjoyed southern gospel music, hunting, painting by numbers, and spending time with his family. Richard was a fan of the Tennessee Vols and the Atlanta Braves. He was preceded in death by his father, “Harvey” Doyle Merciers, Sr., mother, Georgia “Kathryn” Pruitt, step-father, Bill Pruitt, brother, Harvey “Doyle” Merciers, Jr., maternal grandparents, Albert C. “Dick” & Nellie Johnson, and paternal grandparents, Fred & Mamie Merciers. Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Merciers; son, James (Melissa) Bode; grandchildren, Austin, Melanie, Jacob, Emily & Lauren; brothers, Stephen (Nancy) Merciers, Ider, AL, Robert (Anita) Merciers, Rossville Georgia, Tim ( Mary) Merciers, Higdon, AL; sister, April (Steve) Rayburn, Surprise, AZ; step-mother, Ionie Merciers, Ider, AL. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 9th, at 2:00 p.m. at New Haven Fellowship with Pastor Luke Williams and Rev. Al Johnson officiating. Mr. Merciers will lie-in-state at the church from 12:00 noon until the service hour. Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
