Willie Ruth (Skee) Mansfield Carr departed this life and entered into eternal peace on Saturday evening, December 9, 2017, at PruittHeath Care in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia. 

Skee was born on July 24, 1928, the daughter of the late Oscar H. and Bessie Mansfield, in Rossville, Georgia.  She graduated from Rossville High School in 1946 and retired from Rossville Chromatex-Culp, Inc. twenty years ago.

Skee was a lifelong resident of Rossville and a member of Simpson Memorial United Methodist Church.  She loved to cook, sew, spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and work in her flower beds.  Skee loved the sunshine and especially long walks on the beach.  She was a kind and generous person with a quick wit and keen sense of humor.  She was always giving to her family and others.  She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Oscar H. Mansfield, Jr., Richard Mansfield and Joseph E. Mansfield; sisters, Louise Larkin and Margaret Spain; and grandson Robert Cook.

She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her son, Michael (Judy) Cook; daughters, Stephanie Cook Haakon, Patrice Cook (John) Ricks and Annette Cook Hoppe.

Grandchildren, Paul Haakon, Danielle Dyer, Casey Williams, Todd (Kelly) Williams, Kerry (Tony) Pritchard and Shannon Cook; Great grandchildren, Aerik, Alex, Jacie, Storm, Rayne, Maylon, Madi, Jory, Alexander and Ryder.

The family would like to sincerely thank all the physicians, nurses and staff at PruittHealth who cared for Skee during the past nine years of her life and special thanks is given to PruittHealth Hospice who made her final days comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her memory.

There will be a private family gathering at Lane Funeral Home on Monday afternoon.

Arrangements are made by Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel, Rossville, Georgia.
